Comfort Afghans

Free crochet patterns for 2 comfort afghans. The pattern is so simple that I do not know why I ever charged for it in the first place. But here it is, free of charge and I hope the afghans will help to keep you warm in the cold winter months.
The gauge and finished measurements are basically the same for both patterns.
Material: Red Heart Comfort (Aproximately 1700g) or any yarn you have on hand.
Hook Size: I/9-5.50MM or one suitable for the yarn.
Gauge: Measures 1 & 3/4" across 5 dc sts, and over
2 dc rows.
Finished Measurement: 70"x 53"
Notes and Abbreviations:
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
sc = single crochet
st, sts = stitch, stitches
tr = triple crochet
Note: Turn after each row.
Instructions for Pattern 'A'
Ch 161,
Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across.
Row 2: Ch 4 (counts as first tr now and throughout) tr in each st across.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across.
Row 4: Ch 3, (counts as first dc now and throughout,) dc in next 4 sts, ch 1, *skip next 3 sts, tr in next 2 sts, working right to left and in front, tr in last 2 of the three skipped sts, ch 1, * Repeat from * to * across to the last 6 sts. Skip next st, dc in last 5 sts.
Row 5: Ch 1, sc in each st and ch across.
Rows 6-9: Repeat rows 4 and 5.
Repeat from rows 2-9 another 15 times or until desired length. Fasten off.
Instructions for Pattern B
Ch 161,
Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across.
Row 2: Ch 4 (counts as first tr, now and throughout) tr in each st across.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across.
Row 4: Ch 3, (counts as first dc now and throughout,) dc in next 4 sts, **ch 1, *skip next 3 sts, tr in next 2 sts, working right to left and in front, tr in last 2 of the three skipped sts, ch 1, * Repeat from * to * 4 times. Skip next st, dc in next 5 sts. Repeat from ** 4 times.
Row 5: Ch 1, sc in each st and ch across.
Row 6-21: Repeat rows 4 & 5.
Rows 2-21 form pattern. Repeat these rows another 6 times or until desired length. Fasten off.
