Rnd 1: 2 sc in second ch from hook, sc in each ch up to last ch, 5 sc in last ch, working in back loops on opposite side, sc in each ch up to last ch, 3 sc in last ch. Place stitch marker in last st, and continue to move it up at each round.

Rnd 2: 2 sc in first st, sc in next 24, (26, 28) sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 24, (26,28) sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next st.

Rnd 3: 2 sc in next st, sc in next 26, (28, 30) sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 26, (28, 30) sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next st.

Straps

Row 1: Sk first st, sc in next 2 sts, turn.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.

Repeat row 2 until strap is long enough for the center of strap to be sewn to the top center of the sole (to fit between the two big toes), and the end of the strap sewn to the first two hdc sts of rnd 9.

Note: When sewing the strap to the right sandal, you want to attach it at the top of the beginnging chs, slightly off to the left, between rnds 1 and 2. This will leave the strap to the right side of the foot slightly longer so that it can comfortably stretch over the foot. When attaching the strap to the left sandal simply do the opposite, leaving the strap on the left side slightly longer, and attach it more over to the right side of the sandal.
