Double Twisted Cowl
This is a free crochet pattern for a double twisted cowl. The cowl has two half twists; one at the front and one at the back. You can basically make the cowl any size that you want, but if you keep the circumference on the smaller side the cowl will do a good job at keeping the front and back of the neck warm.
I used Bernat Satin yarn, but due to the nature of the pattern, you can use any yarn that you have on hand.
Material: Bernat Satin 1 100g/3.5oz ball black and 1 100g/3.5oz ball red.
Hook Size: H/8-5.00MM
CA: Black
CB: Red
With CA ch 100, or any multiple of 2. Twist the chs once and join the ends with a sl st to form a loop. To make the twist, lay the chs on a flat surface with the right side facing up. Then take the end farthest away from the hook and give it a full turn so that the right side faces up again. This will create 2 half twists in the cowl.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in each ch around making sure to work into each st from the same angle in order to maintain the twist, join with sl st.
Rnd 2: Join CB, ch 1, hdc in first st, ch 1, sk next st, *hdc in next st, ch 1, sk next st, repeat from * around, join with sl st.
Rnd 3: Join CA, ch 1, hdc in each st and ch around, join with sl st.
Repeat rows 2-3 until you have reached a desired length.
