Foundation Single Crochet Stitch Tutorial

The foundation single crochet stitch is an alternative to using the beginning chains and the first row of single crochet stitches. It is a bit tricky at first, but once you have mastered it you will like it. The stitch is also suitable for adding additional stitches to the side of the work. The foundation single crochet is able to give you a nice clean and sharp edge on the new additional stitches.

When making the foundation single crochet stitch, it is important that you insert your hook into the correct place. If you insert it into the wrong place then it will not look right and might even ruin your work. The video below shows you how to make the foundation single crochet stitch, where to insert the hook, and how to use the stitch when adding additional stitches to your work.
