Shell Toilet Seat Cover
This free crochet pattern for a shell toilet seat cover can be crocheted up in an afternoon or so. It is designed to fit a standard sized toilet seat.
The pattern bulks in a few areas, but once it is put onto the toilet seat it stretches out rather nicely. I used Red Heart Comfort yarn, but any other worsted weight yarn that results in the required gauge will work.
Material: Red Heart ComfortHook size: I/9-5.50MM
Finished size: Measures approximately 2.5" across from side to side of first round, and 2.75" across the loops of first round.
Beg Shell: (Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) all in the same lp or shell.
Shell: (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) all in the same lp or shell.
Ch 6, join with sl st to first ch.
Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc) work another 2 dc in same ch, ch 2, (3 dc, ch 2) in next ch around, join with sl st.
Rnd 2: Sl st into ch-2 sp, work beg shell, ch 1, (shell, ch 1) in next ch-2 lp around, join with sl st.
Rnd 3: Sl st into next 2 sts and into lp of shell, work beg shell, ch 3 (shell, ch 3) in next shell around, join with sl st.
Rnd 4: Sl st into next 2 sts and into lp of shell, work beg shell, ch 5 (shell, ch 5) in next shell around, join with sl st.
Rnd 5: Sl st into next 2 sts and into lp of shell, work beg shell, *ch 7, sc around the lps of rnds 2, 3 and 4, ch 7,** shell in next shell, repeat from * around ending at **, join with sl st.
Rnd 6: Sl st into next 2 sts and into lp of shell, work beg shell, *ch 2, (3 dc, ch 2) in next 2 lps,** shell in next shell, repeat from * around ending at **, join with sl st.
Rnd 7: Sl st into next 2 sts and into lp of shell, work beg shell, ch 2, (3 dc, ch 2 in next lp) 3 times, shell in next shell, ch 2, 3 dc in next lp, ch 2, *shell in next lp, ch 2,** (3 dc, ch 2 in next lp) 3 times, repeat from * up to last ch-2 lp ending at **, 3 dc in next lp, ch 2, join with sl st.
Rnd 8: Sl st into next 2 sts and into lp of shell, work beg shell, ch 2, (3 dc, ch 2 in next lp) 4 times, shell in next shell, ch 1, 2 dc in next lp, ch 2, (3 dc, ch 2) in each lp around up to the last lp, 2 dc in last lp, ch 1, join with sl st.
Rnd 9: Sl st into next 2 sts and into lp of shell, work beg shell, ch 2, (3 dc, ch 2 in next lp) 5 times, shell in next shell, ch 1, 2 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 2, (3 dc, ch 2) in each lp around up to the last ch-1 sp, 2 dc in ch-1 sp, ch 1, join with sl st.
Rnd 10: Sl st into next 2 sts and into lp of shell, work beg shell, ch 2, (3 dc, ch 2 in next lp) 6 times, shell in next shell, 1 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 2, (3 dc, ch 2) in each lp around up to the last ch-1 sp, 1 dc in ch-1 sp, join with sl st.
Rnd 11: Sl st into next 2 sts and into lp of shell, work beg shell, 3 dc in next 7 lps, shell in next shell, sk next 3 dc in shell, sc in next dc, sc in lp and in next 3 dc, (3 dc, ch 1) in each lp around up to second from last lp, 3 dc in last lp, sc in next 3 dc and into lp, sc in dc, join with sl to beg shell.
Rnd 12: Sl st into next 2 sts and into lp of shell, ch 3 (counts as first dc), work another 4 dc in same shell, sk next 3 dc in shell, sc in next 21 sts, work 5 dc in shell, sk next 3 dc in shell, sc in next 8 sts, 3 dc in next lp and in each lp around, sc in next 8 sts, join with sl st to first dc.
Rnd 13: Ch 1, work 1 sc in each st around, join with sl st. Fasten off.
