This super simple headband or cowl pattern is crocheted up in half doubles. It has a fair amount of stretch in it making it perfect for a headband. It’s also warm warm enough to wear as an ear warmer in the cold winter weather.
Furthermore, because the pattern is so easy to adjust in size, you could just as easy crochet up a cowl for any season.
Skill Level: Easy
Yarn: Red Heart Soft Touch
Crochet Hook: H/8-5.00mm
Gauge: 4″ over 15 sc sts.
Finished Size: 9.25″ across when laying flat. However it is easy to increase or decrease to any size.
Ch/Chs = Chain/Chains
Bpsc = Back Post Single Crochet
FO = Fasten Off
Hdc = Half Double Crochet
Rep = Repeat
Sc = Single Crochet
Sk = Skip
Sl St = Slip Stitch
Sp/Sps = Space/Spaces
St/Sts = Stitch/Stitches
Note: When you work 2 hdc’s into the same stitch or space, think of these as a set, or a mini shell. Then when you crochet your next round and the pattern says “2 hdc in sp before next hdc”, work these in between the previous set of hdc’s. Below are two images that might help.Advertisement:
Ch 70 (or any multiple of 2), join with sl st in first ch to form ring being careful not to twist chs.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in first ch and into each ch around; join with sl st in first sc. (70 sts)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, bpsc in first sc and into each sc around; join with sl st in first bpsc. (70 sts)
Rnd 3: Ch 1, 2 hdc in same st as join, *sk next st, 2 hdc in next st; rep from * around; join with sl st in first hdc; (70 sts)
Rnd 4: Ch 1, sk hdc where join was made, 2 hdc in sp before next hdc, *sk next 2 hdc, 2 hdc in sp before next hdc; rep from * around; join with sl st in first hdc.
Rnds 5-8: Same as rnd 4. (For a wider band, do more repeats of rnd 4.)
Rnd 9: Ch 1, sc in same st as join and into each st around; join with sl st in first sc. (70 sts)
Rnd 10: Same as rnd 2. FO.
And as always, thank you so much to my testers for helping me out once again.
