How To Sew Fleece Leg Warmers

1.) First measure around one leg to determine how long and wide you need them.

2.) Then add to the measurements:

2" to the length allow for top and bottom hems.

1" to the width to allow for 1/2" seam allowance.

3.) Measure and cut two elastics to fit around top of leg. Make sure to cut long enough for a comfortable fit, and allow 1/2" for overlapping.

4.) Measure and cut material according to measurements in step #2. You should end up with 2 rectangular fabric pieces.

5.) Fold fabric lengthwise with right sides facing. Pin along edges and sew 1/2" from the edges.

6.) Press seam open.

7.) With wrong side facing out, fold up 1" on each end for the top and bottom hems.

8.) Sew all around the bottom hem.

9.) Sew top hem leaving an opening of about 2" to insert elastic into casing.

10.) Insert elastic with bodkin. Overlap ends by about 1/2" and sew secure with zig-zag stitch.

11.) Finish sewing top hem to fully enclose elastic making sure not to sew on top of elastic.
