With this pattern, you can crochet a pair of flared legwarmers, or just make flared ankle warmers. When making the ankle warmers you can crochet them with or without the ribbed top by following the special instructions at the beginning.
They use up quite a bit of yarn, due to the puff stitch, but that also makes them warmer. And the puff stitch will also make your legs appear to be on the chunky side.
Material: Bernat Satin (4 to 5, 100g/3.5oz balls) The amount you need will depend on how long you make them.
Hook Size: H/8-5.00MM
Gauge: Measures approximately 1.4″ over 2 rows and 2 puff stitches.
Beg Puff St: Ch 2, *Yo, insert hook, yo and pull through, yo and pull through 2 loops on hook, repeat from * 3 times, (5 loops on hook), yo and pull through all 5 loops.
Puff st: *Yo, insert hook, yo and pull through, yo and pull through 2 loops on hook, repeat from * 4 times, (6 loops on hook), yo and pull through all 6 loops.
Shell: 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc all in the st indicated.
The pattern is worked from the top to the bottom.
Special instructions for crocheting them with the ribbed top:
Ch 9,
Row 1: (Lenghtwise) Working in back loops only, sc in second ch from hook and each ch across. Turn
Row 2: Ch 1, working in back loops only sc in each stitch across.
Rows 3-36: Repeat row 2. (You may do more or less repeats for a custom fit, as long as you end up with a multiple of 4).
Once you have crocheted enough rows, join the last row to the first row to form a ring. Then begin working in rounds.
Special instructions for crocheting the ankle warmers without the ribbed top.
Ch 36 (more or less in multiples of 4, for a custom fit), join with sl st to form ring, being careful not to twist chains.
