Diamond Hooded Scarf

You can make this scarf with or without the hood. The Hood measures a bit taller than what I wanted, but once you wear it you can’t tell – I just wanted to get 2 rows of diamonds into it. The scarf is long so you can wrap it around and tuck it under, or just tie it in front. Hope you enjoy!

Material: Patons Canadiana, (4 85g/3oz balls, (2 for the scarf, and 2 for the hood))
Hook Size: H/8-5.00MM
Finished Measurements: 62″ long and 5.5″ wide for the scarf, and the hood measures 10″ from front to back when laying flat, and about 13″ from top to bottom when laying flat.

Special Stitches

PC: Work 5 dc in st indicated, remove hook from loop, insert hook in first dc of 5 dc sts made, pick up the loop and pull through.

Scarf:

Ch 18

Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook, and in each ch across. (17 sc)

Row 2: Ch 2, dc in first 7 sts, ch 1, sk next st, pc in next st, ch 1, sk next st, dc in last 7 sts. Turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st and ch across. Turn.

Row 4: Ch 2, dc in first 5 sts, *ch 1, sk next st, pc in next st, ch 1, sk next st,* dc in next st, repeat from * to *, then dc in last 5 sts. Turn.

Row 5: Same as row 3.

Row 6: Ch 2, dc in first 3 sts, *ch 1, sk next st, pc in next st, ch 1, sk next st,* dc in next 5 sts, repeat from * to *, then dc in last 3 sts. Turn.

Row 7: Same as row 3.

Row 8: Ch 2, dc in first st, *ch 1, sk next st, pc in next st, ch 1, sk next st,* dc in next 9 sts, repeat from * to *, then dc in last st. Turn.

Row 9: Same as row 3.

Row 10: Same as row 6.

Row 11: Same as row 3.

Row 12: Same as row 4.

Row 13: Same as row 3.

Row 14: Same as row 2.

Row 15: Same as row 3.

Row 16: Ch 2, dc in each st across. Turn

Row 17: Same as row 3.

Repeat rows 2 to 17 until you have reached a desired, ending with row 15. Continue with Edging.

Edging: Ch 1, sc evenly around, working 3 sc sts into each corner stitch. Join with sl st. Fasten off.

Hood:

Fold the scarf in half, with right side facing outward. Then count 34 sts to right. Attach yarn.

Row 1: Ch 2, dc in same st and in next 67 sts. (68 dc)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across.

Row 3: Ch 2, dc in first 7 sts, *ch 1, sk next st, pc in next st, ch 1, sk next st,** dc in next 14 sts. Repeat from to last 7 sts ending at **, dc in last 7 sts. Turn.

Row 4: Ch 1, sc in each st and ch across. Turn.

Row 5: Ch 2, dc in first 5 sts, *ch 1, sk next st, pc in next st, ch 1, sk next st,** dc in next st, repeat from * to **, dc in next 10 sts, repeat from * to last 5 sts ending at **, dc in last 5 sts. Turn.

Row 6: Same as row 4.

Row 7: Ch 2, dc in first 3 sts, *ch 1, sk next st, pc in next st, ch 1, sk next st,** dc in next 5 sts, repeat from * to **, dc in next 6 sts, repeat from * to last 3 sts ending at **, dc in last 3 sts. Turn.

Row 8: Same as row 4.

Row 9: Ch 2, dc in first st, *ch 1, sk next st, pc in next st, ch 1, sk next st,** dc in next 9 sts, repeat from * to **, then dc in next 2 sts, repeat from * to last st ending at **, dc in last st. Turn.

Row 10: Same as row 4.

Row 11: Same as row 7.

Row 12: Same as row 4.

Row 13: Same as row 5.

Row 14: Same as row 4.

Row 15: Same as row 3.

Row 16: Same as row 4.

Row 17: Ch 2, dc in each st across. Turn

Row 18: Same as row 4.

Repeat rows 3 to 18 until you have reached a desired, ending with row 16. Fasten off, leaving a long enough strand to sew the top of the hood. To sew the hood, fold in half with the right sides together, then sew together.

Hood Edging:

With right side of work facing, attach yarn to bottom on the right side and sc evenly across front of hood.
