Fashion Doll Dress and Headband

This fashion doll dress simply slips on to the doll. It’s made without any increases or decreases; instead it is gathered with a waistband at the waist. Works up quick and easy and comes with a headband to match. It’s the perfect summer outfit for the fashion doll.

Materials:
Yarn: Bernat Softie Baby
Crochet Hook: G 4.00mm

Abbreviations:

Ch/Chs = Chain/Chains
FO = Fasten Off
Bpsc = Back Post Single Crochet
Hdc = Half Double Crochet
Rep = Repeat
Sc = Single Crochet
Sk = Skip
Sl St = Slip Stitch
Sp/Sps = Space/Spaces
St/Sts = Stitch/Stitches

Note: When you work 2 hdc’s into the same stitch or space, think of these as a set, or a mini shell. Then when you crochet your next round and the pattern says “2 hdc in sp before next hdc”, work these in between the previous set of hdc’s. Below are two images that might help.

Dress Instructions:

Ch 20, join with sl st in first ch to form circle being careful not to twist chs.

Rnd 1: Working into back bumps, ch 1, sc in first ch and into each ch around; join with sl st in first sc. (20 sts)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, bpsc in first sc and into each sc around; join with sl st in first bpsc. (20 sts)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, 2 hdc in same st as join, *sk next st, 2 hdc in next st; rep from * around; join with sl st in first hdc. (20 sts)

Rnd 4: Ch 1, sk hdc where join was made, 2 hdc in sp before next hdc, *sk next 2 hdc, 2 hdc in sp before next hdc; rep from * around; join with sl st in first hdc.

Rnds 5-16: Same as rnd 4.

Rnd 17: Sk hdc where join was made, sl st in sp before next hdc, *sk next 2 hdc, 5 hdc in sp before next hdc, sk next 2 hdc, sl st in sp before next hdc; rep from * around. FO.

Waistband: Ch 50. FO and weave into rnd 7 making sure to go in and out at each hdc.

The dress slides right on from the bottom and stays up. If you find it’s too loose, you can sew a piece of elastic along the top rounds.

Headband Instructions:

Ch 20, join with sl st in first ch to form circle being careful not to twist chs.
