Crochet Drum Set Applique

This crocheted drum set is my first applique crochet pattern. All the pieces for the drum set are crocheted up individually, and then pieced together unto a base. However, if you do not want to use the base, then you can do without it, as you can just as easily attach all the pieces to where ever you want the applique.
It did not turn out as well as I had hoped, and it got kind of dark on me as I was taking the pictures and putting it together.
Material: Red Heart Comfort, or other worsted weight yarn.
Hook size: G/6-4.25 MM
Finished size: 10″ long, and 7″ high with the base, and 6″ high without the base. If you need to make it smaller or larger simply use a thinner or thicker yarn, or a smaller or larger hook.

Stands for the Bass Drum (Make 2)
Ch 4, Working into back loops, sl st into second ch from hook and into each ch to end. Fasten off. Attach to back loops, at the points at the side of the drum, one on each side as illustrated.
Assembling the Crocheted Drum Set:
Take one of the small drums with a string, and attach it to the center dc on top of bass drum as illustrated.
Then take the first small drum that does not have a string and attach it to the string of the one just attached.
Then fasten each small drum onto the large drum with a knot using CB. Simply cut a small string of yarn and come in from behind the work and catching only the back loops of the smaller drums. Tie one knot to secure the edge, and one in the center along the tr for each drum.
Attach the bass drum to the center of the base as illustrated, using CB.
Note: Before attaching anything to any one of the tripods, position the tripods on the base so that you can better determine where to attach the drums and cymbals. The tripods should be positioned and attached with the wrong side of it facing up. This allows the side stands to be positioned neatly.
Secure the large tripod to the base as illustrated.
After the large tripod is secured to the base, position the last small drum and secure it to the tripod as well as to the base, overlapping the large drum slightly as illustrated.
Attach the large cymbal to the top of the large tripod, with the pointed end facing the top and away from the base drum as illustrated.
Next position the medium sized drum and both tripods on the other side of the bass drum, and attach.
Position the last tripod, and secure it to the base, then attach the last cymbal.
