This adorable flower applique is shown here in one color, but crochet the first round in a light yellow to give it a realistic and lively look. Or use any color combinations that you find in your yarn stash.

The finished size measures just under three inches wide, which makes it great for hats and headbands, baby blankets or anything else you like.

And the coolest part is that you can stop this flower at round one for a super quick and easy flower as shown below. Or go on to complete all rounds for the flower as shown above. The one above was crocheted in Caron Simply Soft, while the one below was crocheted in Red Heart Super Saver, which is a slightly thicker yarn for a sturdier flower.

Crochet Hook: H/8-5.00mm

Finished Size: Just under 3″.

Abbreviations:

Ch/Chs = Chain/Chains
Bpsc = Back Post Single Crochet
Dc = Double Crochet
Hdc = Half Double Crochet
Sc = Single Crochet
Sl St = Slip Stitch
Sp/Sps = Space/Spaces
St/Sts = Stitch/Stitches

Special Stitch Instructions:

Picot: Ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook.

Pattern Instructions:

Ch 4, join with sl st in first ch to form ring.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, (hdc, picot) 7 times into ring. Join with sl st in first hdc. (7 hdc and 7 picots)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, (bpsc, ch 2) in same st as join and into each hdc st around; join with sl st in first bpsc. (7 bpsc and 7 ch-2 sps)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in same st as join, 5 dc in ch-2 sp, [sc in next st, 5 dc in ch-2 sp] 6 times, join with sl st in first sc. (42 sts) Fasten Off.
