Adult Crochet Slippers
This slipper pattern has been updated and re-written January 28, 2012 in order make it clearer, as well as to fix a mistake in round 1. Instead of working another 3 stitches into the last chain, you work another 4 sts. This gives you a total of 31 stitches in the round instead of only 30.
These slippers are worked with two strands of yarn held together. The two strands help to create a thicker fabric, making the slippers nice and warm. Crocheting with two strands also helps to speed up the crochet process.
They are great for wearing around the house, or for relaxing in at the end of the day.
You can use the same color for both strands, but I really like the effect of using two different colors.
I would say this is an easy pattern, even though you are working with two strands because the stitches are quite simple to make.

do not understand row 2 on the crochet slippers. By reading the instructions and crocheting the directions, one side is bigger than the other. Please help me. Gloria.
Gloria, I’m not exactly sure what you mean by one side is bigger than the other. It will naturally slant off a bit to one side, but both sides should be the same. Could you maybe send a picture? thanks.
thank you…..these slippers are amazing….could you please tell me what size small converts to in “shoe” size….have a friend who has amputations and would love to make these for her for the winter…..
Doreen, They are for a size 5, however, they will stretch a bit if needed. Hope that helps.

Can you tell me how to enlarge this pattern for women with bigger feet?
Basically you start off with a few more chains. Then follow the pattern exactly, except that you count more stitches in each round. I’m going to try and write up a pattern for it, but it might not be until January.
Rhelena: I just love your pattern for Adult Crochet Slippers. They are made in a size 5 and I wear a size 8-81/2 size shoe. I seen on your site that you were going to post the pattern in larger sizes but I can not seem to find it on your site. Is there one available.
I’m sorry, I completely forgot. I will try and get on that over the next week or two. I promise. :)
Question on first stitch of each row……is the first stitch done in the same stitch as the joining st after doing the ch1 or is it done in the next stitch after the joining.
Thank you!
It is made in the same st as where you made the join. :) Thus, the ch-1 does not count as a stitch.
Can you sell what you make with this pattern?
If not that’s okay too.
Absolutely, there is no copyright on the finished projects that you make, only on the pattern. Thus, you are free to sell online or offline, as long as you don’t go into mass production. :) Good luck in your ventures :)
can you make these with red heart yarn that is worsted weight four ply email me asap thank you
Great job with this pattern! No errors that I can see, and I am picky. I have tried several patterns and find that they end up being almost twisted with the decreases. I do not find the same issue with yours. It fit like a dream! I tend to make my slippers a bit longer than what charts call out. I don’t like my toe to rub the very end. I try to make mine about a quarter to half inch longer. Especially when I make slippers with a bulky yarn (6 wt). I have made a pair in Yarn Bee Effortless Super Bulky and came out great, I also did the cuff with FPDC around and looks so cute. Also plan on trying some with Bernat Blanket, so far with my gage looks like I will need a 8.00mm hook.
Again, thank you so much for such a great pattern. Being from Florida we don’t wear slippers much but I do love nice slippers when it gets chilly (I am spoiled, chilly means in the 60’s) . I am going to make many many pairs and see what I can do to adapt the pattern for men’s slippers.
Thanks you much for this great pattern. Finally, slippers that fit and don’t slide off my feet. Embellished with a couple tassels. Also using the liners inside from the slippers that were too big and plan to transfer the rubber soles to them as well. So pleased!
