Spring is upon us, and what better way to celebrate than with a 12″ afghan square. I love the light purple and mint green; they go well together and give the perfect compliment to any spring decor.

I used three colors for this design. But looking at it now, I think a light yellow, or maybe even a pinkish tone would lovely in addition to the above colors.

With that said, choose any colors to match your home decor or any season throughout the year. This afghan square was designed for the Moogly CAL 2017, and I absolutely love what Tamara did with the colors. She chose 6 vibrant colors and brought the square to life.

Back Post Single Crochet (Bpsc): Insert hook from behind of work around the post of stitch indicated. Yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through both loops on hook.

Notes:

For a clean look on both sides, use standing crochet stitches to begin each round. Or, you have the option of carrying the yarn up at each round and starting each round with a number of chains to correspond with the stitch height used in the round.

When working the single crochet after the triple crochet in rounds 2 and 11, make sure the bump from the triple crochet falls on the front of the fabric.

Beginning at round 8, place stitch marker in each corner where next increase will be made.

If you need to adjust the size to keep the square within 12″, substitute double crochets for the triple crochets in Rnd 14.

  1. This is a really lovely pattern. Looks very impressive but the pattern is easy to follow and beautiful. I used a variegated yarn to avoid weaving in the ends (ch2 for stsch, ch4 for st tr) and it turned out stunning. Thank you for a great pattern!
