How To Do a Half Double Crochet Stitch (hdc)
This video and photo tutorial demonstrate step-by-step how to do a half double crochet stitch, abbreviated as hdc. It’s an easy stitch for absolute crochet beginners to master.
The half double crochet is by far one of my favorite crochet stitches for two reasons. One, it’s a nice solid stitch for blankets, hats, scarves, bags and many other projects. And two, it looks great on both sides of the fabric.
To make the stitch, wrap the yarn over your hook and insert hook in stitch indicated, yarn over and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on hook.
