Crochet Cell Phone Holder and Coin Purse

Keep your coins and phone safe inside your big purse with this crochet cell phone holder pattern and coin purse to match. Both follow a similar pattern using the cross-over long dc crochet stitch.

You can line the crochet phone holder if you want, but mine looks great the way it is. As for the coin purse, you will need to line it and sew in a zipper.

Crochet Cell Phone Holder and Coin Purse

This pattern was designed for a small old phone. However, you can make adjustments in a multiple of four to fit any smartphone, tablet or even a laptop.

Skill Level: Easy/Intermediate

Materials

Yarn: Patons Canadiana The New Generation, or any similar worsted weight yarn.
Hook Size: 4.50mm
Button: 3/4″ (2cm)

Measurements

Gauge: Measures 2″ across 8 sts and over 4 hdc rows.
Finished Size: When laying flat it measures 3″ by 5″. Fits a phone measuring 2.25″ by 4.5″.

Abbreviations:

Bl/bls = Back Loop/Back Loops
Ch/Chs = Chain/Chains
Dc = Double Crochet
FO = Fasten Off
Hdc = Half Double Crochet
Hk = Hook
Prev = Previous
Rep = Repeat
Sc = Single Crochet
Sc2tog = Single Crochet 2 Stitches Together
Sk = Skip
Sl St = Slip Stitch
St/Sts = Stitch/Stitches

Working the Cross-Over Long Double Crochet:

For this pattern the cross-over long double crochet is worked into the last stitch made in previous round, or into the skipped stitch of current round. To make the stitch, yarn over and insert the hook from front to back into designated stitch. Yarn over at the back and pull through. You should have three loops on your hook. Crochet Phone Holder Pattern Instructions

Ch 12 (or any multiple of 4 in order to adjust the size),

Rnd 1: Hdc in 2nd ch from hk and in next 9 chs, 3 hdc in last ch; turn work and hdc in free loops of next 9 chs, work 2 hdc in last ch; join with sl st to first hdc. (24 sts)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, working in bl only, sc in first st and in each st around; join with sl st to first sc. (24 sts)

Rnds 3-10: Ch 1, hdc in first st and in next 2 sts, cross-over long dc in last st of prev rnd, *sk next st, hdc in next 3 sts, cross-over long dc in skipped st; rep from * around; join with sl st to first hdc. (24 sts)

Rnd 11: Ch 1, sc2tog over first 2 sts, sc in next 2 sts, *sc2tog over next 2 sts, sc in next 2 sts; rep from * around; join with sl st to first sc. (18 sts)

Rnd 12: Ch 1, sc in first st and in each st around; join with sl st in first sc. Do not FO.

Button Loop:

Ch 10, sl st in same place as prev join. FO.

Attach button on opposite side of holder as pictured.

Crochet Coin Purse Pattern Instructions

The coin purse measures about 3″ high by 3″ wide.

For rnds 1-5, follow the same instructions as given above.

For rnd 6, follow rnd 11.

For rnd 7, follow rnd 12 and FO.

And instead of making the loop for the button, line the purse and sew in a small zipper. Most likely you won’t find a 3″ zipper, but you can take any zipper and shorten it to that length.
