Broomstick Lace Crochet Hair Scrunchie

Ah, the beautiful broomstick lace! Who knew you could incorporate it into a pretty crochet hair scrunchie pattern such as this one! What can I say, except that I’m totally loving it!!!

It’s perfect for weddings, graduations, workplaces, family events, and everything in between! From a t-shirt and jeans to a fancy wedding dress, this beautifully laced hair scrunchie is the perfect way to add a personal touch of handmade.

The Size

I used a 6″ circumference hair elastic, but you can crochet this around any sized hair scrunchie that you have on hand. Simply fill your scrunchie up and then follow the pattern.

As for the stitch multiple it is 4, which is automatically established in the third round, regardless of how many stitches you work in the first round. How cool is that?

The Yarn

To keep it light and lacy, choose a fine #2 yarn. I chose Cotton Fair by Premier Yarns. The yarn is beautiful, yet affordable, and perfect for a pretty hair scrunchie like this one.

The Stitch Pattern

The hair scrunchie is started with single crochets around an elastic, followed by a simple lace made with half doubles and chain 2 spaces. Then to open that lace, single crochets are worked into each space.

Then for the broomstick lace round, you simply pick up loops and crochet around sets of four.

Lastly, another round of single crochets completes the scrunchie.
