No matter if you are starting to extract oil or write a book, the beginner always faces difficulties and unpredictable circumstances. Crochet business is not an exception at all. However, there are tips that will make your start easier.

1. Target market

First of all, don’t be in haste. If you have found an example of successful crochet business, do not try to realize a key to getting benefit straight away. It’s better to sit down, drink a cup of coffee and think about your target audience. Remember that to be a professional for everybody sometimes can become an ungrateful work. There are cases when it’s much more beneficial for a crocheter to focus on certain field of this business. When you are trying to satisfy every customer of every age and gender group, you are risking to be over-loaded with work. In other words, think of your own personal niche. And don’t forget, that interests of clients are always on the first place! It means that your main target is to find out what the customer wants and provide him/her with these items. Only under this condition you will be able to turn your hobby into a beneficial business.

2. Think of the name

As soon as you have decided on the niche it’s high time to think over the name for your small business. The main trick here is to keep in mind that you are focusing on developing your business. For example, you chose to knit scarves only. But it doesn’t mean that you will create only scarves in the future, do it? Thus you should find the name which will remain relevant when you add new items to your business.

3. Promotion

Of course everybody wants to have a personal website with thousands of visitors and astonishing monthly sales. But before swimming in a pool filled with bills, it’s wise to think of promotion. And social networks are the easiest way to start. Most beginners make the same mistake – they are waiting for a quick result from their Facebook page. But the reality is that you will not get hundreds of “likes” out of nowhere! To be noticed by Facebook audience you should take certain steps. One of the approaches is to offer some items for free. Yes, it can be a little bit costly affair, but this will surely lead visitors to your page and make them join it. Another trick known to everybody, though avoided by many, is to offer discounts for your customers if they join your Facebook page. You will soon see that these people will bring more potential clients to your page. Share your opinion and ideas with colleagues on Twitter, blogs and other social networks and lead people to your Facebook page, in this way you can even win the customers from your competitors (well, any means are good means). And don’t forget to show your works on other peoples’ pages. The more pictures you show, the more people will get to know about your talent! No doubt, they are going to be your devoted clients!

4. Use only high quality material

Again, think of your customer! Of course, our aim is to create a profitable business. And yes, the yarn is quite expensive. But imagine that you are selling items made of bad yawn. First of all, most probably the item won’t be saleable. And even if it is still attractive, the moment your client understands that it is made of poor quality material, you are losing this customer. Nobody denies that it is really hard to find a balance between the price for material and the ready item, but it is not for your benefit to disappoint customers with bad quality. And the last but not the least advice is to focus only on your target audience! If you are distracted by different orders, which in fact you are able to do, the niche you have chosen for yourself will live hard times. Do what you like, show the best and the strongest point of your talent. In this case you will get both money and incredible joy from your work!
