Pattern Instructions

Ribbing Rows for the Brim

  • Row 1: Ch 10, sc in 2nd ch from hook and into each ch across. Turn. [9 sc]
  • Rows 2-66: Ch 1, blsc in first st and into each st across. Turn. [9 sts] Continue with this row until you have reached a desired circumference, making sure to end in a multiple of 6.
  • Ch 1 and join the ribbing rows by slip stitching the last row to the free loops of the starting chs.

Working in the Round (Body of Hat)

  • Rnd 1 (RS): Working along the ribbing edge, ch 1, sc in the end of the first row and into each row around; join with sl st in first sc. Turn. [66 sts]
  • Rnd 2 (WS): Sl st into first 2 sts, work beg v-st, *sk next 2 sts, v-st in next st; rep from * around; join with sl st in first hdc (2nd ch of beg v-st). Turn. [22 v-sts]
  • Rnd 3: Sl st into first v-st, ch 4 (counts as first tr), work another 2 tr in first v-st, 3 tr in next v-st and into each v-st around; join with sl st in first tr (4th ch). Turn. [66 sts]
  • Rnd 4: Rep Rnd 2.
  • Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc in first st and into each st and ch around; join with sl st in first sc. Turn. [66 sts]
  • Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc in first st and into each st around; join with sl st in first sc. Turn. [66 sts]
  • Rnd 7: Ch 2 (does not count as st), dc in first st and into each st around; join with sl st in first dc. Turn. [66 sts]
  • Rnds 8-9: Rep Rnd 6.
  • Rnds 10-18: Rep Rnds 2-9, ending last rep at Rnd 2.
  • Decrease: Sl st into first v-st, ch 1, 2 sc in same v-st and into each v-st around; join with sl st in first sc. [44 sts]
  • Fasten off, leaving an 8″-10″ tail to weave in through the last round. Pull tight to close and secure. Leave as is, or add an optional pom pom.
