  • Crochet Hook: H/8-5.00mm
  • Other: Measuring Tape Scissors, Stitch Markers, Yarn Needle.

  • Gauge: 14 sc sts = 4".
  • Base: 12.5" by 4.5"
  • Circumference: 30"
  • Top to Bottom along the side, not counting the handles: 11"

Special Stitch Instructions

  • This pattern is worked with the closed half double crochet v-stitch.

  • Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in same st as join, *3 sc in next st, sc in next 27 sts, 3 sc in next st*, sc in next 3 sts; rep from * to * once, then sc in last 2 sts; join with sl st in first sc. [72 sts]

  • Rnd 10: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc), work another hdc in same st as join (first v-st made), ch 2, *sk next 3 sts, (v-st, ch 2) in next st; rep from * around to last 3 sts, sk last 3 sts; join with sl st in first hdc (2nd ch). [28 v-sts]
  • Rnd 11: Sl st into first v-st, ch 2, hdc in same v-st to complete the v-st, ch 2, (v-st, ch 2) into next v-st and into each v-st around; join with sl st in first hdc (2nd ch). [28 v-sts]
  • Rnds 12-39: Rep Rnd 11 until you have reached a desired height.
  • Rnd 40: Ch 1, sc in same st as join and into each st and ch around; join with sl st in first sc. [112 sts]

Handles

  • Lay the bag flat to place your markers for the handles. Count over 18 sts on the sides of the bag and place stitch marker in 19th stitch. Counting the stitch markers, you should have 20 sts marked off in the middle. Do the same on the other side. Stitch markers should align on each side of the bag.   • Note: To keep things even, I like to crochet into the back bumps of the chains made for the handles.
  • Rnd 41: Ch 1, sc in same st as join and into each st up to marked st, *loosely ch 60 (or any number depending on how long or short you want the handles), sk the 20 sts marked off in the middle*, sc in next 36 sts; rep from * to * once; then sc in remaining sts; join with sl st in first sc. [72 sts and 120 chs]
  • Rnd 42: Ch 1, sc in same st as join and into each st and ch around; join with sl st in first sc. [192 sts]
  • Rnds 43-47: Ch 1, sc in same st as join and into each st around; join with sl st in first sc. [192 sts] Fasten Off.
