The blossom drawstring pouch pattern is perfect for taking your lunch to work or to the park. Or, line it and use it to take along your small crochet projects.

When laying flat, the finished size measures 9 by 10 inches, making it great for just about anything you like. Might even make for a cute bag for your children’s toys.

The pouch closes with a drawstring, and also comes with an optional handle for easy carrying.

Skill Level: Easy/Intermediate

Materials:
Yarn: Bernat Handicrafter Cotton #4
Crochet Hook: 4.50mm & H/8-5.00mm

Gauge: Approximately 2″ over first 4 Rnds, or 1″ over 4 sts.

Finished Size: Laying flat it measures 9″ wide by 10″ high.

Abbreviations:

Ch/Chs = Chain/Chains
Dc = Double Crochet
FO = Fasten Off
Hdc = Half Double Crochet
Rep = Repeat
Sc = Single Crochet
Sk = Skip
Sl St = Slip Stitch
Sp/Sps = Space/Spaces
St/Sts = Stitch/Stitches
V-St = V Stitch

Special Instructions:

V-St: (dc, ch 1, dc) in designated chain or space.

Pattern Instructions:

Rnd 1: With 4.50mm hook, ch 2, work 6 sc into 2nd ch from hook; join with sl st in first sc. [6 sts]

Rnd 2: Ch 1, work 2 sc in same st as join and into each st around; join with sl st in first sc. [12 sts]

Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in same st as join, 2 sc in next st, *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc. [18 sts]

Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in same st as join and into next st, 2 sc in next st, *sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc. [24 sts]

Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc in same st as join and into next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st, *sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc. [30 sts]

Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc in same st as join and into next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st, *sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc. [36 sts]

Rnd 7: Ch 1, sc in same st as join and into next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st, *sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc. [42 sts]

Rnd 8: Ch 1, sc in same st as join and into next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st, *sc in next 6 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc. [48 sts]

Rnd 9: Ch 1, sc in same st as join and into next 6 sts, 2 sc in next st, *sc in next 7 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc. [54 sts]

Rnd 10: Ch 1, sc in same st as join and into next 7 sts, 2 sc in next st, *sc in next 8 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc. [60 sts]

Rnd 11: Ch 1, sc in same st as join and into next 8 sts, 2 sc in next st, *sc in next 9 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc. [66 sts]

Rnd 12: Ch 1, sc in same st as join and into next 9 sts, 2 sc in next st, *sc in next 10 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc. [72 sts]

Rnd 13: Ch 1, sc in same st as join and into each st around; join with sl st in first sc. [72 sts]

Rnd 14: With 5mm hook, ch 1, sc in same st as join, *sk next st, v-st in next st, sk next st**, sc in next st; rep from * around ending last rep at **; join with sl st in first sc. [18 v-sts & 18 sc sts]

Rnd 15: Ch 4 (counts as first dc and ch-1 sp), *(sc, ch 1) in v-st**, (dc, ch 1) in next sc; rep from * around ending last rep at **; join with sl st in first dc (3rd ch). [36 sts & 36 ch-1 sps]

Rnd 16: Ch 1, sc in same st as join, *v-st in next sc**, sc in next dc; rep from * around ending last rep at **; join with sl st in first sc. [18 v-sts & 18 sc sts]

Rnds 17-31: Rep rnds 15 & 16 ending with Rnd 15 at Rnd 31.

Rnd 32: Working only into the sc and dc sts, ch 1, (hdc, ch 1) in same st as join and into each st around; join with sl st in first hdc. [36 ch-1 sps]

Rnd 33: Working only into the hdc sts, ch 1, sc in same st as join, 5 dc in next st, *sc in next st, 5 dc in next st; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc. FO. [18 sc and 90 dc]

Handle:

Row 1: Leaving an 8-10″ tail, loosely ch 80. Working into back bumps, sc in 2nd ch from hook and into each ch across Turn. [79 sts]

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first st and into each st across. Turn. [79 sts]

Row 3: Repeat Rnd 2. FO leaving an 8-10″ tail for sewing to bag.

Attach handle to ch-1’s and top of hdc sts made in Rnd 32 – one end on each side of the bag.

Drawstring:

Ch 80, FO and weave in through ch-1 sps made in Rnd 32.
