Criss Cross Phone Cozy with Belt

Criss Cross Phone Cozy with Belt ~ FREE Crochet Pattern
Criss Cross Phone Cozy with Belt ~ FREE Crochet Pattern

This pattern was a request from one of my followers on Crochet Pattern Bonanza. Thank you so much for the request, if you’re reading this, you know who you are. :) And I do apologize for taking so long to bring it about.

The phone cozy is designed to fit my outdated Samsung phone. The phone measures about 2″ wide by just over 5″ high. With that said, the stitch pattern is only a multiple of two, so it’s easy to make it wider if you need to. If you make the chains long enough you could easy make a tablet or laptop cozy as well.

The belt length is also easy to adjust by following the simple formula that’s provided.

And you can use the two in the set as pictured, or omit the belt slot and carry the cozy in your purse. You can also add your favorite buckle to the belt and wear it with a dress or tunic.

Pattern Information:

Skill Level: Easy

Materials:
Yarn: Size 3 crochet thread
Crochet Hook: G 4.00mm and 3.00mm
Other: 1″ Belt Buckle

Gauge: 1″ over 4 sts.

Finished Size: Belt measures 1″ wide and 28.5″ long. Phone cozy measures 3″ across and 4.5″ high laying flat.

Abbreviations:

Ch/Chs = Chain/Chains
Dc = Double Crochet
FO = Fasten Off
Hk = Hook
Rep = Repeat
Sc = Single Crochet
Sk = Skip
Sl St = Slip Stitch
St/Sts = Stitch/Stitches

Notes:

To calculate the correct length for the belt:

Measure around your waist or hips (where you want to wear the belt).
Measure your belt buckle and subtract it from your waist measurement.
Add 1-2 inches for seam allowances. (I used about 3/4″ on each side of buckle for a total of 1.5″.)

Refer to this tutorial on the cross stitch.

Belt Pattern Instructions:

With 4.00mm hk, Ch 111, (or any multiple of 2 + 1 that will go around your waist, taking into consideration the size of the buckle and seam allowances. See Note Above)

Instead of chaining 111, you could also make 110 Foundation Single Crochets, or any even number. Then skip row 1 and begin at row 2.

Row 1: Working into back bumps, sc in 2nd ch from hk and into each ch across. (110 sc) Turn.

Row 2: Ch 2 (does not count as st), dc in first st, *sk next st, dc in next st, dc in skipped st; rep from * across; dc in last st. (110 sts, Or, 2 dc & 54 crossed sts) Turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first st and into each st across. (110 sts). FO.

Attach the belt to the belt buckle as shown. Make sure the belt is not twisted. It’s best to pin the belt in place and try it on before sewing.
