Crochet Star Dishcloth

This crochet star dishcloth pattern was one of my first patterns that were published. I’ve rewritten and redesigned it for a neater appearance of the star. I also tightened up the holes, to make it more suitable for washing and scrubbing those dishes.

I’m totally loving this crochet dishcloth design because it adds a nice touch to my kitchen! Not only is this great for washing dishes, but you could also use this as a small doily or a wall hanging.

I chose yellow, but choose your favorite color to match your kitchen decor. And if you have the patience, you could use the Tapestry technique and change colors for the granny stitches that surround the star. That would help to bring the star shape out even more!

The finished size is approximately 9.5″ across the diameter. In cotton, this is the perfect size for a dishcloth, a doily, or a plant mat. It looks great in a worsted weight yarn, but you could also substitute a fine thread and smaller hook to make a small star doily for your candles and such.

I used Bernat Handicrafter Cotton Yarn. The yarn is great for cleaning your entire home, making this great for the bath and other cleaning as well.

Lily Sugar N Cream is very similar to the Handicrafter and could easily be used as a substitute.

I added picot stitches in the last round to bring out the points of the star. You can omit these if you like and just work the entire round with single crochets.
