ESC Simple Summer Sun Hat for the Fashion Doll

What do you do with the small amounts of DK thread leftover from other summer projects except make a cute little summer sun hat for the fashion doll! You only need a very small amount yarn and time to make this, and your daughter will be forever grateful for her new doll accessory.

The best part is that this summer doll hat is the perfect match for just about any outfit that your child may already have for her doll.

The finished size is designed to fit a Barbie doll. However, using a different yarn and hook size can increase the size if you need something for a slightly larger doll.

As for the yarn, I used Butterfly Mercerized Cotton, which has since been discontinued.

Special Stitch Instructions

• Extended Single Crochet (Esc): Insert hk in st or ch indicated, yo and pull up a lp, yo and pull through 1 lp, yo and pull through both lps on hk.

Instructions

• Rnd 1: Ch 2, work 8 esc in 2nd ch from hk; join with sl st in first esc. [8 sts]
• Rnd 2: Ch 1, work 2 esc in same st as join and into each st around; join with sl st in first esc. [16 sts]
• Rnd 3: Ch 1, 2 esc in same st as join, esc in next 7 sts, 2 esc in next st, esc in next 7 sts; join with sl st in first esc. [18 sts]
• Rnd 4: Ch 1, esc in same st as join and into each st around; join with sl st in first esc. [18 sts]
• Rnds 5-6: Rep Rnd 4.
• Rnd 7: Ch 1, 2 esc in same st as join and into each st around; join with sl st in first esc. [36 sts]
• Rnd 8: Rep Rnd 4. Fasten Off. [36 sts]
