Today we have a granny stitch square that you can use to make just about anything you like from blankets, bags, shawls, and many other items! The square pattern is worked in rows, making it easy to customize in size and colors.

Changing colors is super easy as you can change after each row. after every couple of rows, or work it up in blocks of colors for a uniquely modern take on the granny stitch.

The pattern is easy, making it ideal for everyone including beginners who are comfortable making the double crochet stitch.

Although this classic crochet granny square worked in rows the finished size comes out to be about 8 inches square. Thus, mixing and matching this with similar-sized squares is easy for a unique crochet blanket.

A stitch multiple is provided making it super easy to crochet this to any width and length you need from an afghan square to a scarf and even a full-sized blanket!

  • Yarn: Worsted weight yarn (4-medium) Brown
  • Crochet Hook: H-8 (5.00mm)
  • Tools: Measuring Tape, Scissors, Yarn Needle.

Measurements

  • Gauge: 2 sts x 4 rows = 2" Change your hook size to obtain the gauge.
  • Finished Size 8" x 8" This is our finished measure. If yours don't fit within this measurement, please check your gauge.

  • Row 2: ch 2, dc in first gap, *3 dc in next gap* repeat * to * 5 more times, ch 1, dc in top of turning ch, turn
  • Repeat row 2 14 more times
  • Row 17: ch 2, dc in first gap * ch 1, 3 dc in next gap* repeat * to * 5 more times, ch 1, dc in top of turning, cut yarn, finish off, weave ends
