Two Color Crochet Baby Blanket

The two color crochet baby blanket pattern is nice and solid and can be crocheted for both baby boys and baby girls. It’s a mindless way to create that baby shower gift for the new bundle of joy.

A baby blanket worked up in a white and green yarn neatly folded up.

I chose a white and green. The green makes it perfect for the spring, but choose any seasonal, or boy and girl colors to make this special for your little one. Use one or two colors as desired.

This two tone crochet blanket also has a pretty texture and color design on both sides so you can show it off and gift it with confidence. It is perfect for the crib, stroller, car seats, or for playing on the floor.

The Size

The finished size is 36 by 36 inches, for a baby. I did not write this down, but I believe the stitch multiple is a multiple of 4 for the starting chains, if you need to adjust the size. Here is a blanket sizes chart if you’re not sure what measurements you need.

The Yarn

Because I did this in a baby size I used a baby yarn called Bernat Baby Sport. It’s a lightweight #3 acrylic yarn. I worked off of two big balls as they are fairly cheap in terms of the amount of yarn that you get.

If you want to make a blanket for your couch or a child blanket, you could easily work this in an economic yarn like Red Heart Super Saver.

The Stitch Pattern

The only crochet stitches you need to know are the single, double and triple crochets. The pattern is worked over a four-row repeat using two colors of yarn. It’s an easy pattern, but row 3 requires that you work your triple crochets two rows below to create the raised textures on the fabric.

I’ve included a video tutorial below the written pattern for you to follow along.
