A few of of my favorites for babies are the Blossom Stitch Baby Blanket, which is just the right size for newborns. Another one is the Easy Baby Blanket, which features a bit of an open stitch.
Disclaimer: If you browse through the blanket section you’ll see some of the baby blankets have rather large holes in the fabric. Babies can get their fingers and toes caught in them. So if you decide to make one that might not be the safest, make sure to keep an eye on the little ones when they are with the blanket. Also, be sure to pass that along to the mother if you decide to gift them.
What is the Best Yarn for Baby Blankets?
My personal favorite yarn is Bernat Baby Sport, which is available in large enough skeins so that you only need one skein to make one blanket! And it’s very economic as well! Lion Brand Ice Cream and Snuggly Wuggly Big! are another two good yarns to work with.
