Crochet Baby Blanket – Vine Street
This crochet baby blanket pattern features a pretty textured row in between a few rows of basic stitches. The pretty texture makes it ideal for making gifts or for community donations.
It is a cozy baby blanket, perfect for keeping them warm in the car while snuggling, or as an extra layer of softness between them and the floor as they play.
Make yours in a solid color as shown, or add a few stripes to make it more fun and interesting. Adding more color is also a great way to use up a few leftovers.
The Size
The finished size measures about 31 inches by 32 inches. The starting chains can be adjusted in any multiple of 2 + 1. So you can easily make a preemie blanket or a full-sized bed blanket using regular yarn.
Refer to this blanket size chart.
The Yarn
Baby yarn always seems to be the best choice for baby items, including blankets. Bernat Baby Sport is my go-to yarn, but other baby yarns can work too.
Even a soft worsted weight yarn can work, but you will need to make adjustments to the number of stitches to ensure it comes out to the size you need.

The Stitch Pattern
The stitch pattern is simply single crochet stitches in between a textured row. The textures are created with a variation of the cross stitch: a single crochet crossed with a double crochet.
It is easy and mindless and perfect for relaxing the mind at any time of the day.
The only downside of this crochet blanket pattern is that it tends to slant! However, you can block it out with steam blocking. I threw down some foam mats on the floor and was amazed at how straight I was able to get it simply with a steam iron.
Just be careful when steaming acrylics because it can ruin the fabric if too much heat comes in contact with the yarn.
