Single Crochet and ESC Cross Stitch Shawl – Adelaide

This lightweight crochet shawl pattern is perfect for all seasons. You can wear it in many ways to accessorize or to add an extra layer to any outfit.

Wear it like a scarf in cooler weather, and in warmer weather, it might be just what you need to protect your shoulders from the hot sun. You can also drape it over a bathing suit as a cover.

Although this crochet shawl pattern would make for a nice gift idea. you will need to plan so you can get it done in time.

The yarn is thin, which means that more time is required to work this up. But that is the beauty of crochet, sometimes a project that takes several weeks to work on is just what the mind needs for relaxing.

If your eyesight is poor, like mine, choose a bright spot near a window during the day to work on this.

Finished Size

The final measurements are roughly 19″ by 68″. The size is adjustable.

Although wide and long, it doesn’t take up much space. You can easily fit this inside your bag, or keep it in your glove compartment in your car to have it ready when you need it.

The Yarn

I used United by Queensland Collection. The yarn is nice to work with and gives you a beautiful drape, which is always nice in a crocheted shawl.

Another beauty of this yarn is that each skein comes in four different colors, so you get a nice color scheme.

You can get this yarn at YarnCandy. It comes in a pack of six balls. If you don’t see it listed, she’ll order it for you.

The Stitch Pattern

The stitch is super easy to remember with only two rows consisting of the single and the extended single crochet cross stitch.

The extended single crochet is made with an extra chain in the single crochet before closing it off.
