A Beautiful Crochet Doily in Worsted Weight Yarn

This simple crochet doily pattern has a nice ribbed center with a pretty lace and picot edging. It works up quick in a worsted weight yarn.

It is a very simple pattern, but at the intermediate level due to the back post stitches. With that said, if you’ve mastered the basics, you’re ready to make this.

The finished size of this crochet doily measures 11 inches across the diameter. Hence it’s great for just about all your home decor needs from any table to any dresser. You could also crochet it in a cotton yarn and use it on your kitchen table for a small centerpiece arrangement. A vase filled with summer flowers, a candle or two, or a bowl full of delicious fruits would look lovely on top of this pretty doily.

Another option is to crochet this doily in a crochet thread. It would come out a lot smaller because of the thinner material, but it might work for a cute coaster or a dainty doily. So I hope you’ll have fun experimenting with this pattern, and also find many uses for it.

How It’s Made

This doily is started off with a chain four circle, but you can also work the first round into a magic circle if you like.

The first round is worked with triple crochets, then half doubles and a round of back post single crochets to give you a nice ribbed texture.

Then after one repeat we have a pretty lace made with simple chain space. To finish it off, a round with the picot stitch is worked for a pretty edging.

The Yarn

I used one of the cheapest yarns on the market, Red Heart Comfort. This yarn comes in big balls, but you only need a small amount for this doily. Thus, it’s a great pattern to use up those leftovers from other projects.
