Crochet Hooded Scarf – FREE Crochet Pattern

This is a super easy pattern for a crochet hooded scarf. The stitch used in this pattern is the extended single crochet stitch, which contributes to a nice soft fabric. The extended single crochet stitch is about the same height as a half double crochet, but the fabric is not quite as bulky. It also creates a nice texture in the fabric. The stitch is easy to make, thus making this hooded scarf a suitable pattern for crochet beginners.

You can basically make this scarf any length that you want by increasing the number of repeats. As for the hood, it can be increased in both directions as well. Simply work enough stitches along the edge of the scarf to ensure that it will come out far enough to the front and continue with the repeat rows until it is tall enough.

Hooded scarves are a great accessory for the cold winter weather that we get up here in Canada. They are convenient because they come in one piece. They are also harder to lose than a regular hat and scarf. Another thing I like about hooded scarves is that you can wear them with any coat or jacket.

Another pattern suited for the crochet beginner, is the Beginner Hooded Scarf.  Or, for something a bit more advanced you might enjoy this hooded scarf with pockets.

I used Bernat Satin yarn, but due to the nature of the pattern, you can basically use any type of yarn that you have on hand. I’m thinking Patons Canadiana or a Bernat Bamboo would result in a nice soft scarf.
