ESC Hat and Cowl for the 11.5″ Fashion Doll

This is a cute doll set to keep your fashion dolls super cozy during the winter holidays! It’s perfect for birthday gifts, stocking stuffers, and for something special any time of the year.

For this set I used a size 3 thread, but you could make it in a size 10 as well because the pattern can be adjusted in multiples of 2.

This crochet doll hat pattern is perfect for Barbie, but can be increased to other doll sizes if needed.

Skill Level

Materials

  • Yarn: Size 3 Crochet Thread
  • Crochet Hook: 3.00mm
  • Tools: Measuring Tape, Scissors, Yarn Needle.

  • Fits the 11.5" Fashion Doll.

Special Stitch Instructions

  • Esc: Insert hook in stitch indicated, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through one loop, yarn over and pull through both loops on hook.

Instructions

Brim (Working Lengthwise)

  • Row 1: Ch 4, sc in second ch from hk and in next 2 chs. Turn. (3 sts)
  • Rows 2-20: Working in bls only, ch 1, sc in each sc across. Turn. (3 sts)
  • Ch 1 and join the ribbing rows by slip stitching the last row to the free loops of starting chs. You might have your own way of doing it, but I like to join the front loops of last row worked to the free loops of starting chains.

Body (Working in the Round)

  • Note: Each row end equals 1 stitch.
  • Rnd 1: Ch 1, esc in first st and into each st around; join with sl st in first esc. (20 esc)
  • Rnd 2: Ch 1, (esc, ch 1) in first esc, sk next esc, *(esc, ch 1) in next esc, sk next esc; rep from * around; join with sl st in first esc. (10 esc)
  • Rnds 3-7: Ch 1, (esc, ch 1) in first esc and into each esc around. (10 esc). FO at last rnd leaving a long enough tail to weave into the last rnd. Pull the tail end tight and secure.

Cowl:

  • Ch 60 or any multiple of 2; join with sl st in first ch.
  • Rnd 1: Ch 1, (esc, ch 1) in same ch as join; *sk next ch, (esc, ch 1) in next ch; rep from * around to last ch; sk last ch; join with sl st to first esc. (60 esc)
  • Rnd 2: Ch 1, (esc, ch 1) in first esc and into each esc around; join with sl st in first esc.
  • Rnds 3-5: Same as rnd 2. FO at last rnd.
