Picnic Salt and Pepper Shaker Cozies

Summer might be almost over, but it’s not too late to crochet up some salt and pepper shaker cozies. They are perfect for BBQ’s, picnics or even on your kitchen table. They’ll keep out the pests, dust and other debris that might otherwise settle in them. The only problem is now you can’t see which is which. To work around that you could make them in different colors, embroider a P and S on them or just tilt them over a bit to see what’s on the bottom.

As always, whenever I crochet with worsted cotton, I use Bernat Handicrafter Cotton. But any similar brand will work just as well.

These salt and pepper cozies are not only quick to crochet up, but they are also easy enough for a beginner to master. They require the perfect-size yarn and crochet hook to make it easy for crochet beginners. The only thing that might make it more difficult is the cotton yarn. It doesn’t stretch much and tends to fray easy especially if you end up having to frog.
