FREE Crochet Bookmark or Coaster Pattern.

The bookmark is crocheted in a DK weight yarn, and the coaster is crocheted in a worsted weight.

Crochet a bookmark or a cool coaster with this pattern. Both follow the same pattern, except the bookmark is crocheted in a slightly thinner material than the coaster. Also, the coaster is fastened off at round 3.

For this coaster pattern, I used Red Heart Super Saver, but any similar worsted weight, or even a worsted cotton will work.

And it might also work as a handy scrubbie!

Crochet Pattern Information:

Skill Level: Intermediate

Materials:
Yarn: Butterfly Mercerized Cotton – DK #3
Crochet Hook: G 4.00mm

Finished Size: Doily measures 3.25″ across. Total length is 10″.

Abbreviations:

Ch/Chs = Chain/Chains
Dc = Double Crochet
Hdc = Half Double Crochet
Sl St = Slip Stitch
Sp/Sps = Space/Spaces

Special Stitch Instructions:

Picot: Ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook.

Crochet Pattern Instructions:

Ch 4, join with sl st in first ch.

Rnd 1: Ch 4 (counts as first dc and ch-1, now and throughout), (dc, ch 1) 7 times into ring. Join with sl st in first dc (3rd ch). [8 ch-1 sps]

Rnd 2: Sl st into ch-1 sp, ch 4, dc once more into same sp, (dc, ch 1, dc) into next ch-1 sp and into each ch-1 sp around; join with sl st in first dc (3rd ch). [8 ch-1 sps]

Rnd 3: Sl st into first ch-1 sp, ch 1, (3 hdc, ch 4, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, ch 1) into same sp and into each sp around; join with sl st in first hdc. [24 sts and 8 points]

Ch 30, or any number to get the length you want. Sl st in 3rd ch from hook (first picot made), work another 4 picots; join with sl st in same ch as where first picot was made. Fasten Off.

Crochet Coaster Variation:

Using Red Heart Super Saver (Worsted Weight #4) and an H/5.00mm crochet hook, follow instructions as above through Rnd 3, and fasten off.

Finished measurement is approximately 4.5″ across the picots and 3.5″ across the narrow part.
