Textured Crochet Shawl – Cross-Over Long DC
This textured crochet shawl pattern is perfect for year-round wear, including on cool summer evenings. It can be worn in many ways to accessorize and keep warm. The pretty textures complement other outfits from plain to anything dressy.
Plus, it has a lovely drape, which makes styling easy and elegant. Crochet it in any solid color to match your favorite outfit. Or, choose a few colors for a color block or a striped design.
The free crochet pattern is easy and mindless for intermediate crocheters, making it a great pattern for working on at the end of the day or while taking a time out in front of the television. I always love my crochet time-outs!
The Size
The finished size is approximately 18″ by 59″. However, increase your starting chains in the stitch multiple provided to crochet this to any width you want.
The length also, is super easy to adjust.
The Yarn
Patons Canadiana is a medium worsted weight yarn. For an economical acrylic yarn, it is super soft and luxurious. It is definitely one of my favorite acrylic yarns for shawls and other winter accessories.
With that said, think of the season or outfit with which you plan on wearing this and use your personal favorite yarn.
For winter choose acrylic or another cozy yarn.
For the summer, choose a soft cotton or another material that will help to keep you cool. Unless of course, you’re in a cooler climate, then acrylic is perfect for cooler evenings.

The Stitch Pattern
The cross-over long dc crochet is one of my favorite textured crochet stitches. The stitch pattern is worked in simple stitches, but are crossed for a beautiful texture.
It looks great if worked in rows. And due to the texture, a solid color is all you need to make this stitch look nice.
To make the crossover long double crochet stitch, skip a stitch, work a half double crochet into the next 3 stitches. Then double crochet into the skipped stitch. And repeat!
Then every other row is worked in plain single crochet stitches.
