Triple Crochet Crossed Texture Hair Scrunchie

This easy and textured crochet hair scrunchie is the perfect way to show off your crochet skills while making something practical for your hair. The textures and simple lace work well together for an elegant-looking hair scrunchie that you can wear with any outfit and to any occasion!

What I love about this scrunchie is the simplicity of the stitches, yet it is so pretty, especially once wrapped around the hair.

The Size

I used a 6″ circumference hair elastic, but any circumference will do. However, you may need to adjust the number of stitches around the hair elastic.

The stitch multiple needed is any multiple of 3.

An Easy Stitch Pattern

The scrunchie is started by crocheting around a hair elastic. I like to use single crochets because they wrap the elastic nicely for a beautiful look.

Then to avoid bulk, I like to work an open stitch with the half double and chain 2 spaces.

Then single crochets into the spaces to pull them open, which is what gives you the pretty lace.

Next, for the textures is a variation of the cross stitch, which in this case is a single crochet crossed with a triple crochet. Then to create the bobbled look, instead of skipping a stitch after the triple crochet, another single crochet is worked into the next stitch.

So, skip a stitch and single crochet in next stitch, triple crochet into skipped stitch, then single crochet into next st. And repeat.

Lastly, a round of single crochets to finish things off.
