Snowflake Table Runner
When I received a request for a snowflake table runner crochet pattern, I decided to give it my best shot and design one. I had a bit of trouble trying to decide what to do for the edging, but after a few tries I came up with something that somewhat matched the snowflakes.
Finished Size
You can make the table runner as long and wide as you like. I crocheted three rows until it was long enough for the table. If you want, you could even make a tablecloth with this pattern. Or, arrange them any way you like for a pretty doily pattern. I did mine in a small triangle for a cute doily for my living room coffee table.
The Yarn
I used a size 10 crochet thread. It is very tedious to work with such a thin material for a such a large project, but the end result is well worth it.
You can always experiment with thicker materials to see how it turns out. Start with one motif and go from there to see if you like it.

Snowflake Table Runner Crochet Pattern

- Yarn: Crochet Thread Size 10
- Crochet Hook: 8/1.50MM
- Tools: Measuring Tape, Scissors, Yarn Needle.
Measurements
- With 3 rows it measures approximately 11 inches after blocking. After blocking, each flake measures approximately 4 inches from point to point and the edging measures between 0.5 to 1.5 inches.

Special Stitch Instructions
- Beg. Cl Shell: Ch 2, (Yo and insert hook into st indicated, yo and pull through, yo and pull through 2 lps) 2 times, (3 lps on hook), yo and pull through all 3 lps, (1st half of cl shell made), ch 3; rep from * to * 3 times in same st, (4 lps on hook), yo and pull through all 4 lps. (2nd half of cl shell made).
- Cl Shell: *(Yo and insert hook into st indicated, yo and pull through, yo and pull through 2 lps) 3 times, (4 lps on hook), yo and pull through all 4 lps*, (1st half of cl shell made), ch 3; rep from * to * once in same st. (2nd half of cl shell made).

Notes
- When joining two snowflakes together with a sl st, insert the hook from the bottom into the completed snowflake.
- When joining a corner where 2 corner lps have already been joined, join the 3rd corner in the sl st where the 2nd corner was joined.

Pattern Instructions
- Ch 6, join with sl st in first ch to form circle.
- Rnd 1: Ch 1, (sc, ch 3) 6 times into circle; join with sl st in first sc. (6 lps)

Edging:

To Block:
- Dip the table runner in water and gently squeeze out any excess water. Lay the runner flat on a few towels using pins to hold it in place. Allow the table runner to dry completely.

Joining Tutorial:
Finish the first snowflake as instructed in rnd 6. The second flake is then joined to the first on the 6th round.
Crochet around the second motif the same as for the first until you get to the last 2 corner loops.
Work your 3 single crochet into the corner loop and chain 3. Then insert hook into the corresponding corner loop making sure to insert hook from underneath. You will slip stitch into the corner loop. The slip stitch is equivalent to 1 chain.
Finish the corner by making another 3 chains and working 3 single crochet stitches into the corner loop on current motif.
Following the pattern, crochet up to the next corner and repeat the same instructions as for the first corner.
Two motifs joined at two corners.
The third motif is joined exactly the same way as the first, except it is joined to two motifs at 3 corners. So you would crochet around the motif until you get up to the last 3 corners.
When you get to the corner where 2 corners are already joined, work the next joining slip stitch directly into the previous slip stitch made at that corner.

Now for the edging, it’s real simple to begin: You basically work a (sc, ch 3, sc) into each loop and point where 2 loops are joined followed by 11 chains. Repeat the process all the way around.
