Simple Seed Stitch Towel Holder
This is a quick and easy crochet project for holding up your kitchen towels. It was born as a result of my latest move. My new small kitchen didn’t come with a towel holder, and so I had to come up with something quick and easy for hanging up my towels, and this was it. It fits perfectly over the knobs and does a great job at holding the towels in place.
Thank God for yarn and crochet because this holder cost me a fraction of what a new towel holder would have cost me. It actually doesn’t have to cost you anything because it’s a great project for using up those odds and ends that you never know what to do with anyway. The only cost would be the button and your time, which isn’t much.
I used Bernat Handicrafter 100% Cotton yarn for this, but you could basically use any type of yarn, including crochet thread. If using thread, and you want to make it wider, then simply increase your beginning chains by two or any multiple of two. Your total amount of chains should be a multiple of two plus one.

Instructions
- Ch 5,
- Row 1 (WS): Sc in 2nd ch from hk, dc in next ch, sc in next ch, dc in last ch; Turn (4 sts)
- Row 2 (RS): Ch 1, (sc, dc) in first st, sk next st, (sc, dc) in next dc, sk last st; Turn. (4 sts)
- Rows 3-12: Rep row 2. Do not FO.
Loop for Button:
- Sl st into first st and into next st, ch 3, sl st into next 2 sts. Turn.
Loops for Kitchen Door Knob:
- Row 1 (1st Lp): Ch 1, sc in first st (same place as where sl st was made), ch 6, sk the center two sts, sc in last st (same place as where sl st was made). Turn.
- Row 2 (2nd Lp): Sl st into sc, ch 5, sl st into first sc made in row 1. FO.
Attaching the Button
- Sew the button onto the RS of row 1.
