Crochet Thread Coaster

Here is a free crochet pattern for a crochet thread coaster or a small doily. You can use it to cushion your tea light candles, small picture frames or any other knick knacks that you might have. Another use would be as a vegetable or as a facial scrubbie/makeup remover.

Originally I used a size 10 crochet thread and worked it with two strands. I thought it was pretty to use different colors. I made quite a few in black and yellow, which suited my one room at the time. They also look great in Christmas colors with red and green or white. Or use any colors that you like for any other holiday. The one pictured is made with two strands of a gold metalic type thread.

If you’re not fond of working with two strands of thread, you can also use a size 3 crochet thread. It works just as well and even comes out to be about the same size. The only difference is that you can’t work it with two colors.

It comes out looking ruffled, so you will need to block it before using. To do that simply dampen the coaster in some water and lay it flat to dry on a towel.
