Here is my first pattern for a crochet barbie dress. Instructions are given for both a mini and long dress that flare out at the bottom. Both dresses are easy to crochet provided you are used to working with crochet thread.
This adorable dress is held up and tied at the back with a string. It’s elegant and perfect for any girls doll clothing collection. Other similar patterns include the strapless
Mini or Long Crochet Barbie Dress
Material: Size 10 Crochet Thread
Metal Hook Size: 8/1.50MM
Gauge: 2 inches across 15 sts and over first 11 pattern rows.
The dress is worked from the bottom up.
When doing the back, it will seem as though it is not wide enough. However, once you crochet the side loops and weave the string in, it pulls together nicely.
Ch 90. Join with sl st to first ch to form ring being careful not to twist the chs.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in first ch and in each ch around. Join with sl st. (90 sts)
Rnd 2: Ch 3 (Counts as first dc), dc in next st and in each st around. Join with sl st. (90 sts)

Rnd 12 (For the Long Dress Only): Ch 3 (Count as first dc), dc in next st and in each st around. Join with sl st.
For the Long Dress continue with rnds 11 and 12 until you have reached a desired length from the waist down. Once you have reached a desired length, continue with the “Top Part.”
“Top Part” for both the Mini and Long Dress:
This part is worked in rows in order to leave an opening. The opening might seem a little small, but once the loop row for the string is done, it pulls together nicely.

Loop Row for String:
Working along the edge of the back opening, sc in same st where last st was made, *ch 2, sk end of dc row, sc in end of next sc row**, repeat from * down to bottom of opening, ch 2, turn your work and sc into corresponding sc row on the other side of the opening. Repeat from * to ** back up to the top. Fasten off.
Note: You should have 5 loops on each side and one in the middle for a total of 11 loops.
String:
Ch 120, Fasten off and weave in ends.
Weave the string in between the center tr stitches of the last row in front. Then carry it over to the back and weave it into the ch-2 loops as you would with shoelaces.
