Spiral Shell Rasta Hat

Spiral Shell Rasta Hat
Spiral Shell Rasta Hat

This spiral shell rasta hat is my first design with Paton’s Canadiana, The New Generation. I really love this yarn because it is so soft and is very easy to work with. The yarn is a little thinner than the old version of Paton’s Canadiana.

I used an off-set shell stitch in order to create the spiral effect of the pattern. The crochet pattern is pretty straightforward and should be easy enough for a beginner to follow.

This hat is a bit smaller than my other two rasta hat patterns, and is not meant to cover a large amount of hair. The pattern is in one size only, and will work as a loose fit or as a more snug fit. For a larger size, you can try a larger crochet hook and a thicker yarn.

The pattern starts to get floppy at rnd 4 but it begins to even out at rnd 9 into a nice ruffled look.
