This easy ruffle scarf crochet pattern features one side with a fully ruffled look while the other side is worked in a straight edge. It works up quickly along the straight pattern, but the ruffled edge takes a bit of time. It also uses up a bit more yarn, but it has a lot of ruffles, perfect for those who love the ruffled look.

You can wear this crochet scarf in many different ways and with many types of outfits from dressy to plain. Whatever the occasion calls for, this ruffled scarf can be worn to accessorize or to keep you warm.

I chose a solid color, but you can easily incorporate a few stripes. Especially along the straight edge, a few stripes would look great if you wanted to use up a matching leftover skein.

Wear the ruffles away from the neck, which is my personal choice, but you can also turn them so they hug the neck for a slightly different look.

One downside of this scarf is that it tends to curl up a lot on the ends. Depending on your style, you may wish to leave it. Or, you may be able to steam block it out. Another option would be to use a light fabric stiffener.

The Size

The finished size measures 5.5″ wide by 58″ long. You can easily adjust the length as needed by chaining any number of chains.

There is no stitch multiple required for the ruffles, as the first row of ruffles will work with any odd or even number.

The Yarn

I used Patons Canadiana, a medium worsted weight yarn. It is not just any acrylic yarn because it has a beautiful shine that you don’t see all that often.

It’s a bit more pricy, but it’s perfect for making items for dressing up.

I used about 300 grams of Patons Canadiana.

The Stitch Pattern

The crochet scarf is started off with single crochets for the first 17 rows. After that chains are used to make room for more single crochet stitches.

Lastly, it’s finished off with picots to give you a nice pointed look.
