This wine bottle cozy is the perfect match for this Cabled and Diamonds Bag or Purse.  It’s great for the holidays, or any time of the year.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Materials:
Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver
Crochet Hook: I/9-5.50mm

Gauge: 3.75″ across first 4 rounds.

Finished Size: Fits loose on a wine bottle that is just under 3″ in diameter.

Abbreviations:

Bead St = Bead Stitch
Ch/Chs = Chain/Chains
Dc = Double Crochet
FO = Fasten Off
Fptr2tog = Front Post Triple Crochet Two Together
Bpsc = Back Post Single Crochet
Hdc = Half Double Crochet
Hk = Hook
Lp/Lps = Loop/Loops
Rep = Repeat
Sc = Single Crochet
Sk = Skip
Sl St = Slip Stitch
Sp/Sps = Space/Spaces
St/Sts = Stitch/Stitches
Yo = Yarn Over

Notes & Special Stitch Instructions:

Bead St: Insert hk into indicated st, yo and pull through, (yo and pull through one lp on hk) twice, yo and pull through both lps on hk. When you work into the next stitch make sure the bobble is facing the right side.

Fptr2tog: Yo twice, insert hk from front to back and around the post indicated, YO and pull up a lp (4 lps on hk) (YO and pull through 2 lps) 2 times (2 lps left. First half of fptr2tog is complete), YO twice, insert hk from front to back and around post indicated, YO and pull up a lp (5 lps on hk), (YO and pull through 2 lps) 2 times. (3 lps left) YO and pull through all three lps. Second half complete.

Always skip the stitch behind the fptr2tog. When starting a new round with a fptr2tog, work the fptr2tog then sc into the next st.

Here is a tutorial to help with rounds 8-12.

For a larger wine bottle increase the bottom to any circumference making sure to end with a multiple of 4.

Pattern Instructions:

Ch 2,

Rnd 1: Work 8 hdc in 2nd ch from hk; join with sl st in first hdc.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, work 2 hdc into same st as join and into each st around; join with sl st in first hdc. (16 sts)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, work 2 hdc into same st as join, hdc in next st, *2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st; rep from * around; join with sl st in first hdc. (24 sts)

Rnd 4: Ch 1, work 2 hdc into same st as join, hdc in next 2 sts, *2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts; rep from * around; join with sl st in first hdc. (32 sts)

Rnds 5: Ch 1, bpsc in same st as join and in each st around; join with sl st in first bpsc.

Rnd 6: Ch 1, bead st in same st as join, sc in next 3 sts, *bead st in next st, sc in next 3 sts; rep from * around; join with sl st in first bead st.

Rnd 7: Pull the loop as high as a dc, dc in same st as join and into each st around; join with sl st in first dc.

Rnd 8: Ch 1, fptr2tog working first half around 2nd from last st in rnd 6, sk next 3 sts in rnd 6 and work 2nd half around next st, *sc in next st, bead st in next st, sc in next st**, fptr2tog working the first half around same post as last fptr2tog, sk next 3 sts and work 2nd half around next st; rep from * around working the last half of fptr2tog around same post as where first fptr2tog was made; then rep from * to **; join with sl st in first fptr2tog.

Rnd 9: Pull the loop as high as a dc, dc in same st as join and into each st around; join with sl st in first dc.

Rnd 10: Ch 1, bead st in same st as join, sc in next st, fptr2tog working first half around first fptr2tog made 2 rnds below and the second half around the next fptr2tog, *sc in next st, bead st in next st, sc in next st, fptr2tog working first half around same post as last fptr2tog and 2nd half around the next fptr2tog; rep from * around working last half of fptr2tog around same post as where first fptr2tog was made; sc in last st; join with sl st in first bead st.

Rnd 11: Same as rnd 9.

Rnd 12: Ch 1, fptr2tog working first half around last fptr2tog 2 rnds below and 2nd half around first fptr2tog 2 rnds below, *sc in next st, bead st in next st, sc in next st**, fptr2tog working the first half around same post as last fptr2tog and 2nd half around next fptr2tog; rep from * around working last half of fptr2tog around same post as where first fptr2tog was made; then rep from * to **; join with sl st in first fptr2tog.

Rnds 13-26: Rep rnds 9-12 ending with rnd 10 at rnd 26. Note: Make it any height you like as long as you end with either rnd 10 or 12.

Rnd 27: Ch 1, sc in same st as join and into each st around; join with sl st in first sc. (32 sts)

Rnd 28: Ch 1, (sc, ch 1) in same st as join, *sk next st, (sc, ch 1) in next st; rep from * around; sk last st, join with sl st in first sc. (16 ch-1 sps)

Rnd 29: Ch 1, sc in same st as join and into each st and ch around. (32 sts)

Rnd 30: Ch 1, bpsc in same st as join and into each st around; join with sl st in first bpsc.

Rnd 31: Ch 1, sc in same st as join and into each st around; join with sl st in first sc. (32 sts).

Rnds 32-33: Rep rnds 30 & 31 once. FO.

Tie String:

Ch 61, work 3 hdc in 2nd ch from hk and in next 9 chs, sl st in next ch. FO. (30 hdc). Weave the unworked chains through the ch-1 sps made in rnd 28. Count over 11 chs from other end and join yarn with sl st in 11th ch. Ch 1, work 3 hdc in next ch and in last 9 chs. FO.
