Puffy Spike Stitch Wine Bottle Cozy
The red, white, and green make this crochet wine bottle cozy perfect for the holidays. The puffy spikes also remind me of snowflakes and pine trees.
Choose your favorite two or three colors to make this your very own.
The wine bottle cozy pattern includes insturctions for both the bottle cozy and the bottle neck cozy. It’s a nice set to gift any bottle of wine for your special occasion,
Red Heart Super Saver has lots of colors to choose from. That is one thing I like about the yarn. That and the fact that it is cheap to purchase and goes a long way.
Any medium worsted weight acrylic yarn will work to make this.
Red Heart Super Saver
This one is done in the puffy spike stitch, which was used on this bag here: Puffy Spike Stitch Bag. The only difference is that the puffy spikes are much closer together, and also, I worked the pattern in back loops only. You could also work them in both loops for a different look.

Notes
- This pattern is written in American Crochet Terms
- For this cozy you will want to keep your seam as straight as possible. Here is a tutorial on how to keep the seam fairly straight. Also, I find thicker yarn like Red Heart Comfort or Super Saver tend to work better than thinner yarns when it comes to keeping straight seams.
- Instructions at beginning of rounds are to chain 1, then single crochet into the same stitch as join. However; to help you keep the seam straight you could count the chain 1 as your first stitch and then single crochet into next stitch. Another option is to maybe go without the chain 1 at the start of the round. Your best bet is to do a few rounds and see what works for you.
- After the first 3 rnds work in back loops only.
- Join all rounds in both loops.
- Use any color combo that you like. I started with Red as CA Green and then White; but the choice is yours.
- The stitch pattern for the body is a multiple of 5. Increase the diameter to fit any bottle size.
