The Size
The finished size as given is about 18 inches in circumference by 10 inches tall. It’s a perfect fit for a small adult woman.
However, a stitch multiple is provided, which enables you to adjust the size as needed from baby to adult.

The Yarn
I used a dk acrylic yarn, Red Heart Comfort Sport. It is economical but nice enough for making items for gifting and selling.
The yarn washes well, is durable, and most importantly, is comfortable to wear.
I used a solid color, but you could try adding a few stripes to make it more fun and interesting to wear with your outfits.

How it’s Made
The stitch pattern used here is very simple. The only stitches you need to know are the single crochet, back loop single crochet, single crochet decrease, double crochet, chains, and working multiple stitches into a chain.
The hat pattern is started with a crochet ribbing, which is worked in rows until it fits comfortably around the head. The ribbing is then joined along the short ends.
Next, you begin working in rounds with the first round being worked into the ribbing ends.
The pattern is turned after each round, just like you would if you were working in rows.
Once you reach the height that you need you do a few decrease rows before fastening off.
Lastly, weave the tail end into the last round and pull tight to close it off.
