Single Crochet Cowl Pattern

Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned crocheter, this easy single crochet cowl pattern will surely be a hit. You can customize both the size and colors to match your style and wardrobe.

In terms of width, this cowl is oversized. In length, however, it is a fairly standard length. It is a snug fit if you want to wear it as a hooded cowl. For me, that is how I prefer my hooded cowls, nice and cozy so they keep the drafts out. If that is not you, simply adjust the length to your personal preference.

If you like this free crochet pattern, then you might also like the bottom-up single crochet beanie pattern. I used the same yarn and striped design in both patterns. The only difference is the cowl has one extra stripe to make it nice and wide.

To Change Colors

Colors are changed at the joining slip stitch of the previous round.

To change color, finish the round as instructed, but without making the join. Insert your hook into the first stitch made in the round; pick up the new color and pull through the stitch and the loop on your hook.

Drop the old color and carry it up at each round.
