3.75-Inch Raised Center Easy Crochet Afghan Square

This easy crochet afghan square has a nice curled-up center for a nice texture. It begins to curl a bit at the first round, and curls over even more once you do the back post double crochet stitches in the second round. It’s a pretty floral-centered look that you can use to embellish or make a cozy blanket.

You can work this square pattern up in pretty floral colors for a budding spring flower. Fall colors would look very nice too. Or, choose any color combinations to match your home or your favorite holiday. Either way, it makes for a nice gift idea for anyone.

My favorite thing about this square is that you can use up your odds and ends for a bright and beautiful crochet blanket. A square blanket would be great for babies, or make a rectangular blanket for a lapghan or throw.

And with it being just under four inches, the uses are endless. With two squares back to back, you can make a cute little bag for a toddler. Or piece multiple squares for a bigger bag, or a pillow to match your blanket.

For this square crochet pattern, I used a worsted-weight yarn, Vanna’s Choice, with a 5.00 mm crochet hook. The gauge for this pattern does not matter, so you can basically use any yarn and hook size, provided you stay consistent throughout the project.
