Ribbings of Red Wine Bottle Cozy

Here is my first pattern for a crochet wine bottle cozy. It’s great for gifting at Thanksgiving, Christmas, or any other occasion throughout the year.

It’s a great way to bring a bottle of wine to a holiday celebration, whether it’s with family or friends. And it can be used year after year and passed along from one person to the next. Who knows, maybe one day it’ll come back to you again?

Finished Size

I designed this for a Kombucha bottle, which measures just under 3″ in diameter. Most wine bottles are wider, so I’m going to give you a stitch count so you can increase to the size you need.

The Yarn

I made this in both Red Heart Super Saver and Vanna’s Choice. Both yarns worked up well. Any similar worsted weight yarn will work.

With two colors you can use up leftover yarns. The colors shown here are perfect for fall and Christmas, but you can choose any two colors to celebrate your occasion.

Notes

  • You might want to check out this tutorial on how to do the Cross-over Long DC
  • When you do your first cross-over long dc in the round make sure that you work it into the last st made in previous rnd and NOT into the joining sl st. You might find it helpful to mark your last st in the round before you make your join.
  • For a larger cozy increase the bottom to the desired size making sure to end with a multiple of 4 before starting rnd 5.
  • This cozy is a tight fit which then draws the last rnds in around the top of the bottle.
