Simple Seeded Lace Lightweight Crochet Cowl

This lightweight crochet cowl pattern is perfect for year-round use. It is perfect for moderate temperatures and can be worn with many outfits to add an extra layer of warmth.

Depending on your style and workplace, this crochet neckwarmer may be something you can wear on the job – in a cold warehouse or in a drafty office with clients coming and going.

Not only is it crocheted in a lightweight yarn, but the pattern features an open stitch to allow air to pass through while still adding a bit of warmth. Therefore, it’s the perfect accessory for cooler summer evenings as well. And it doesn’t take up much space, making it easy to pack away in a bag until you need it.

And for those living in extreme temperatures, you can easily turn this into an oversized cowl for a cozy double wrap.

This cowl is the perfect match for this crochet hat pattern. And you can also get the crochet scarf if you prefer that over the cowl.

The Size

The finished size is 26″ in circumference by 6.5″ wide.. You can easily customize this to any size you like from child to adult sizes.

Simply increase your starting chains to obtain the length you want, and then continue in the stitch pattern until you reach the width you want.

The Yarn

I used a light #3 acrylic yarn, called Red Heart Comfort Sport. It is economical, yet gives you a nice drape, which not only looks nice, but also makes it more comfortable to wear.

Choose just about any yarn you have on hand to clean up your stash. Simply adjust the stitch counts needed to obtain the measurements you want.

Add some stripes or blocks of colors to make it match whatever outfits you plan on wearing it with.

The Stitch Pattern

If you know the basic crochet stitches, are comfortable skipping stitches and working two stitches into one, then you are ready to make this!

One row is worked with half double crochet stitches and chain one spaces, while the next is worked in the seed stitch. The seed stitch is the single crochet and double crochet worked into one stitch.
