Vine Avenue Crochet Hair Scrunchie
This crochet hair scrunchie pattern has a lovely textured round to complement the ruffles along the edge. It is a nice solid stitch, but with an open stitch round in the middle, you don’t have any excess bulk. Plus, the open stitches make it look nice and lacy!
Whatever the occasion, a wedding, a graduation, or a family picnic, this crochet hair scrunchie will be all that you need to make your ponytail look the very best.

Vine Avenue Crochet Hair Scrunchie
This crochet hair scrunchie pattern can be worked up in any fine yarn. It has a bit of a textures around the edge for something slightly different.
The scrunchie starts with single crochets around a hair elastic. Then, to avoid excess bulk, I like to work an open stitch pattern with the half double crochet and chains.
For the round with textures, I worked a cross stitch variation with the single crochet crossed with the double crochet decrease (dc2tog).
Lastly, to make the edge nice and straight, I worked a round of slip stitches.
Skill Level: Intermediate
Materials
- Yarn: Scheepjes Stone Washed (Fine, #2; 78% Cotton, 22% Acrylic; 50g; 130m) 1 ball
- Crochet Hook: E 3.50mm
- Other: 1 Goody Hair elastic
- Tools: Scissors, Yarn Needle.
I had some Scheepjes Stonewashed left over from another project and thought it might look nice in a scrunchie like this. It is a bit sturdier than Cotton Fair, but it’s still nice and light. Plus, the two-toned colorway adds a nice touch.
Finished Size
The hair scrunchie pattern is worked around a 6″ circumference hair elastic, but can be adjusted for other sizes. Simply work any number of stitches around the elastic to fill it up nicely. Then follow the pattern as instructed.
No need to worry about stitch multiples!
